For students

Learning to type, joining a batch with a code, and what your teacher can see.

You are here to learn and practise. Joining a batch is optional, and your progress is always yours.

How it goes

  1. Learn, practise and test

Start the course in Learn. Use Practice for the keys you get wrong, and Test to time yourself. None of this needs an account.

  2. Sign in, if you want to join a batch

An account is free. A join code is checked only after you sign in.

  3. Use your join code

Open the link or scan the QR your teacher gave you, or choose Join with a code and type it. Capital letters, spaces and hyphens do not matter.

  4. Read what is shared, then press Join

You are shown the organisation, the batch, and the seven things staff will see. Nothing is shared until you press Join.

  5. Carry on as usual

Learn and practise exactly as before. Classes lists the batches you are in and your roll number.

  6. Leave whenever you like

In Classes, choose Leave on a batch. It needs no approval and stops the sharing at once. Nothing of your own is deleted.

What you can and cannot do

You can

  • See which batches you are in and what is shared
  • See your roll number
  • Add a name and a picture to your profile, or leave them off
  • Leave a batch at any time

You cannot

  • See other students, a list of your batch, or a rank
  • Change your roll number: nobody can
  • Open an organisation's staff pages

What do I do next?

Questions

Does my teacher see what I type?
No. What you type is never stored anywhere, so nobody can see it.
Does my teacher see my name?
Yes, if your account has one, with your picture if you added one, and your roll number. Your teachers do not see your email address. The owner of the organisation does. You choose your name and picture under Your profile, in the account menu, and both are optional.
Do other students see me?
No. Other students see nothing about you: not your name, not your roll number, not your progress.
Do I see who teaches me?
Yes. Classes shows the names of the teachers of each batch you are in.
What happens to my progress if I leave?
Nothing. It stays with you. Staff simply stop seeing it.
Can I join again after leaving?
Yes, with the code. It is a fresh start there: you are given a new roll number, and practice days and tests count from the new day you joined.
My batch says archived. What does that mean?
The owner has closed it. Staff can no longer see your progress through it. It stays in your Classes until you leave it.

May we count which parts of Typekaro get used? Never what you type, and never who you are. Typekaro works exactly the same either way. What this means
