Typekaro is a free tool for learning to touch type. It has typing tests, lessons, practice drills and two games, and it runs in your browser.

Everything here is free, and everything works without an account. Using the site means you accept these terms.

Use it to learn and to practise. While you are here, please do not:

• try to break, overload or interfere with the site, or with anyone else using it
• use software to hammer the site with automated requests
• try to reach parts of it, or anyone’s account, that are not yours
• copy the site and present it as your own
• use it for anything against the law

The lessons, the text you type, the games and the design belong to their author. You are welcome to use them here, and to link to them. Ask before republishing them elsewhere.

You never need an account. Everything on this site works as a guest, and your progress is saved in your own browser.

An account exists for one reason: so your progress can follow you to another device. It is free. If you make one, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has it.

You can stop using an account whenever you like. To have it and its data removed, get in touch. An account may be suspended if it is used for the things listed above.

Typekaro is built for people learning to type, and many of them are children. A child can use everything here without an account, without giving a name, and without giving an email address. That is the intended way to use it.

An account asks for an email address. If you are a child, please ask a parent or guardian before making one, and use theirs if that is easier. A parent or guardian can ask for an account and everything in it to be deleted at any time, and it will be.

There are no adverts here, no messaging between people, no public profiles and no leaderboards. Nobody else can see how a child is doing.

Your results, lessons and settings are stored in your browser. With an account, a copy can also be kept so that another device can pick it up.

What is stored, and what is not, is set out on the privacy page. The short version: what you type is never sent anywhere.

Clearing your browser’s data for this site deletes anything held in the browser. Keep that in mind before clearing it.

Typekaro is provided as it is. It may be unavailable at times, it may have faults, and it may change. We do not promise that it will always work, always be available, or suit any particular purpose.

Please do not treat it as the only copy of anything you care about. Browser storage can be cleared by the browser itself, and a stored copy can be lost.

To the extent the law allows, the author is not liable for loss that follows from using the site, including lost progress.

Typekaro will keep changing: features are added, and occasionally removed. These terms may change with it, and the date at the top will say when they last did.

If a change matters to you and you disagree with it, the remedy is simple: stop using the site, and ask for your account to be deleted.
