Typekaro is a free tool for learning to touch type. It has typing tests, lessons, practice drills and two games, and it runs in your browser.

Everything here is free. Tests, lessons, practice, games and your progress all work without an account; streaks and badges are the one addition that needs one. Using the site means you accept these terms.

Use it to learn and to practise. While you are here, please do not:

• try to break, overload or interfere with the site, or with anyone else using it
• use software to hammer the site with automated requests
• try to reach parts of it, or anyone’s account, that are not yours
• copy the site and present it as your own
• use it for anything against the law

The lessons, the text you type, the games and the design belong to their author. You are welcome to use them here, and to link to them. Ask before republishing them elsewhere.

You never need an account. Tests, lessons, practice and games all work as a guest, and your progress is saved in your own browser.

An account exists for two reasons: so your progress can follow you to another device, and so you can keep streaks and badges, which exist only in an account. It is free. If you make one, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has it.

You can clear everything Typekaro has stored, on this device and in your account, from the Progress page, and you can delete the account itself from the same place. Deleting removes your progress, the account, and this browser’s copy, and cannot be undone. If you would rather ask than press the button, get in touch. An account may be suspended if it is used for the things listed above.

Everything a learner does on Typekaro is free. One thing is sold: a plan for an organisation, such as a school or a coaching centre, that needs more batches, students or teachers than the free plan allows. Only the owner of an organisation can buy it, and a student or a teacher is never charged. What it includes and what it costs are on the pricing page.

A plan is a subscription. It renews by the month or by the year, whichever you chose, until you cancel it, and you can cancel at any time from Billing in your organisation. Payment is taken by Dodo Payments, which is the seller of record: the payment, the tax and the receipt are between you and Dodo Payments, on its own page and under its own terms. Typekaro never sees your card.

If a plan ends, or a payment does not go through, nothing is deleted. The organisation keeps what it has and cannot add more until it is within the free limits or paying again. Cancelling, refunds and what happens afterwards are set out in the refund and cancellation policy. Prices and limits may change. A change of price does not apply to a period you have already paid for.

Typekaro is built for people learning to type, and many of them are children. A child can use the tests, lessons, practice and games without an account, without giving a name, and without giving an email address. That is the intended way to use it.

An account asks for an email address. If you are a child, please ask a parent or guardian before making one, and use theirs if that is easier. The account can be deleted at any time from the Progress page, and a parent or guardian who would rather ask can get in touch instead.

There are no adverts here, no messaging between people, no public profiles and no leaderboards. Nobody else can see how a child is doing, unless the child joins a class run by an organisation, such as a coaching centre. Then the owner of that organisation and the teachers of that class can see a short, fixed list of the child’s practice numbers until the child leaves, as the privacy page sets out. Other students and the public see nothing.

Your results, lessons and settings are stored in your browser. With an account, a copy can also be kept so that another device can pick it up.

You can download a copy of it at any time from the Progress page, whether or not you have an account.

What is stored, and what is not, is set out on the privacy page. The short version: what you type is never sent anywhere.

Clearing your browser’s data for this site deletes anything held in the browser. As a guest that is the only copy. Signed in, your account keeps its own, and the Progress page can clear both together.

Everything Typekaro does today is free. If that ever changes, it will not change under you: what you already have stays as it is.

Typekaro is provided as it is. It may be unavailable at times, it may have faults, and it may change. We do not promise that it will always work, always be available, or suit any particular purpose.

Please do not treat it as the only copy of anything you care about. Browser storage can be cleared by the browser itself, and a stored copy can be lost.

To the extent the law allows, the author is not liable for loss that follows from using the site, including lost progress.

Typekaro will keep changing: features are added, and occasionally removed. These terms may change with it, and the date at the top will say when they last did.

If a change matters to you and you disagree with it, the remedy is simple: stop using the site, and ask for your account to be deleted.
